Did Commayder come with any alternate head?

I agree that a white scarf would make it better but for me its mostly because it'd double as the beard.

Also agree. A scarf would help a lot. I would have skipped the flesh tone altogether personally, but a white scarf would do wonders and enhance the current flesh tone eyes.

Not digging the secret figure look. The paint around the eyes isn't even symmetrical.

Where is Delphi! Or a female character Matt said in an interview years ago. I'm guessing the female character idea probably got squashed. I think Glyos needs Delphi at this point.

In my opinion when something new comes out they overkill it. Enough with Quallerrans already. How about some LSA, Sarvos, or some classic characters a lot of us love.

I hate to say it, but I think I'm starting to lose interest. I used to be the guy that would buy at least one of each fig. Now just a few. Maybe it's inflation, I'm getting old or maybe Glyos is running out of ideas that call my attention.

I hope Glyos can make me feel like a kid again.

Yeaaaa, some things don't translate well into travelers... human characters for instance.
Shoulda been a Glyan, or better yet a different homage all together. Least the body is pretty cool I suppose. Maybe I'll like it better in hand.

It is a very odd looking Pheyden, agreed the body is nice (though i'd have taken a Blue or Yellow traveler instead), I like different paint masks like the boots/chest/shoulders interesting. Maybe it's just the pic, but the mask on the face looks kinda sloppy to me, and those eyes are creepy.

I think Glyos needs Delphi at this point...How about some LSA, Sarvos, or some classic characters a lot of us love.

I could go for a little more variety with the releases as well, I've been surprised that after 10 years there hasn't been a 2nd Dephi release, also nothing but love for the LSA

My orders just arrived! Ordered Commayder, Traveler Vekurrek, and a blue Glyan. Got a blue Hub set & Axis set as freebies, along with a transparent green Crayboth. It's really neat that the inclusion of the Hub & Axis sets seem to tie in with the basic Glyan.

I see the community response to Commayder is a resounding 'ehh', and I pretty much feel the same way. It's not awful, though. The human design isn't great, but I can forgive that because of the wonderful red/gold color scheme.

Happy for you but this is the kinda thing that can compound disappointment. I spent twice as much and got no hubset or joints. A bonus hubset to match all the other building parts i bought would have made me a happy camper.


I know, we all face it at some point. Matt owes us nothing. Still i'd be lying if i said it never makes me sad when i get left out.

I couldn't disagree with you guys more. I love the shit out of the Commander Pheyden figure! The paint masks on this guy are phenomenal. Especially the face mask and eyes. It really makes this pheyden feel like a completely different figure.

I just happened to drop by the blog after a long absence and saw that acknowledgement of criticism in the thank you post for this wave. I thought that was interesting since it's rarely happened before. A lot of the changes that have been made over the years I understand but I still don't get why the pre-drop information has become so limited. I quit collecting the line because of it and you would think, especially with the reference to cash flow, that you would do something relatively cheap that would keep people interested. Maybe the "mystery" thing works better? Either way, I guess it's nice to know things aren't going to change and I don't have to worry about keeping tabs on the line.

Feel bad saying it, but it's the first time I've been disappointed to get figures in hand. The gray on Vekurrek is much darker than I expected. I don't know why I was thinking it was more of a cream color. I look back at the pics and see that I was wrong. Commayder is pretty much what I thought it would be when I skipped it on my first order, and not at all what I was hoping for when I picked it up on a second order. It's my first order in a few months, so disappointing to spend over $30 on two travelers that I'm probably not keeping.

Thanks for the updated pic, now that I see it more in focus those lines on the Commayder are pretty damn crisp. He's got a Space Captain look to him or like a bearded Captain Murphy maybe? (SeaLab anyone?), the shoulder paint kind of reminds me of epaulets love the Gold paint on the Red PVC.

If the worst complaint that can be made is the heads not what we expected, a swap with one of any other heads is a pretty simple fix. I can't be the only one with a plethora of heads in a bin waiting to see a fresh body to breath life into. After all isn't that the point of Glyos, the potential to customize? Slap on some Darkness Soldier -White or Red- Glyarmor and an Varteryx/Neo Sarvos head, bam just like new!

I think that this figure may grow on me...glad I picked one up! Can't wait till my package arrives.

Yea, the Commayder isn't doing it for me in hand either unfortunately. Certainly glad others like it though. It will probably be one that years from now everyone will want just for how odd it is and I'll regret trading it off.
But I'll live with that regret, so whoever wants one mine is up for trade.

I really enjoy the grey contained buggy build and the stowaway crayboth the most.
I am one who is tired of the overly painted figures as of late and was excited to see a more plain drop however these colors I have so much of already that I didn't spend much this go round. So I have nobody but myself to blame that these more basic waves are becoming fewer and fewer.

Im just hoping Matt runs with the Lego homage long enough that we eventually see the Lego homage we all know we wished this drop was. Arctic space blue white and neon trans orange.

Honestly I find it a bit sad my fav figure from the wave was a freebie crayboth(though I did miss out on the rig...)which looks awesome next to the gray hubset build. if the whole drop was a dark swampy voss and plain gray I woulda dropped my entire wallet.

Respect to Matt for adressing our concerns, bittersweet though as it confirms a lot of my fears that certain aspects of Glyos are gone for good or at least for a good while.

I blame myself for getting vested in the idea of an extra set so heavily that i failed to see the obvious (comMAYder for the month of may) .
My speculation seemed sound at the time. I feel bad that i may have swayed some the wrong way.
Overall, it looks about what i thought. Never was a huge fan of the original. Not sure why fisher price felt the need for a lorn greene character.

My other disappointment is also my own fault. Bought a bunch of parts to bulk out a figure and make it my buggy driver and the color is off a little. If i had been lucky and drew a freebie hubset that matches, it would have eased my faux pas.
Bottom line... I suck. I'm just never gonna get it right so i'm not even gonna think anymore.

Finally got my lil fellas today (no pics at the moment, sorry) I had been patiently waiting to see if the yellow was as I suspected, more on the neon side and just how much it matches to the old lego pieces I was so obsessed with...

And the answer is yes, most definitely! Side by side, I can barely tell a difference. You have no idea how obsessed I was with those yellow pieces as a kid...it just looked like solid laser plasma to me. I was especially fond of the antennas when they came out, they made great laser swords.

I find this colorway too good to be true in hand, though I do have one criticism. I would do anything for a Glyarmor in this colorway...I feel it's practically screaming for it. I'd definitely love to see more of it show up in the future, and any traveller would look amazing, but those Glyarmor pieces woulda been something else. I've got all appendages crossed we see more Xulturri in the future.

Just finished opening my good and am pretty happy with this wave, all in all I've been really happy with 2017's offerings. Love the Trans Yellow, definitely should've had more of that available, maybe a sister line will pick it up. Would be interesting to see if Matt continues the Lego homage. Would like to see some Blacktron or Ice Planet inspired releases...that ice planet trans orange...ooooh. If Matt is looking to do some sort of build station restock Blacktron bits could fit right in, black to me seems more suited for the build station since its a more universal color way. Plain white classic space would be nice too, we still haven't seen swing joints released in plain white yet.

To add to the discussion regarding the current state of collecting, there definitely has been a change from eight, even five years ago. Between the community (still the best in toy collecting), release hype and it's content some of the magic seems to have been lost and thats unfortunate. Still, I love this line and have no plans of passing on it.

I think it was put up to vote a long time back whether Buildstation releases would be in black, white, or clear, and clear won out since customizers could dye the plastic to make translucent colors. As a painter, black would be much easier to work with, but I get the choice.

My fingers are sore, but well worth every penny. I wanted a quick pic of the finished figures before I called it a night. The DSGs are articulated and have a new flight pack that can fold out as needed.
