What exactly IS Glyaxia? - A Theory

This is something I've always pondered. And it all started with a question; what is Glyaxia? Okay, yes, it's the name of the yellow/blue drops. But there's more to it than that.

Over the years, Glyaxia's signature symbol-the two crossing V's-has appeared on a VERY large amount of figures. There are different divisions, different chains of command, different species. But are there?

Over the years, the only figures to be released in Glyaxia colors have been Armorvors, Noboto, Glyans, Travelers, and some vinyl (like the Rigs and Armodocs). Well, the Noboto's are Protoclones created for Glyaxia, and the Armorvor was just in disguise (hence the name "mimic"). So the only sentient life we know of in Glyaxia is the Glyans and the Travelers. :glyan-gc: :sarv-gcR:

This really begs the question, what's the point? Why does Glyaxia exist? What is their purpose?

Well, oftentimes they have done things that would be seen as villains; sending a Syclodoc after the Council of Travelers, scavenging the remains of Argen to create powerful warriors, and so on. But is this really evil? The Esedeth Mobile Patrol was created to secure ruins on a planet, presumably for research. This gives the idea that Glyaxia may just be looking to learn more about other planets. They even captured two Crayboth to learn more about the species. Should they have captured two sentient creatures? No, but it was for the purpose of learning, even if their ways of completing that mission could have been done differently. The way I view it, is that Glyaxia is a "group" set on learning more about the Glyos universe, even if it means performing actions they shouldn't.

So, in the end, the Glyaxia may not necessarily be evil as many would likely assume they are, they still have the intention of exploration, research; learning.

Well, that's it to my little ramble :spsweat: . If you feel that I missed something I'd like to hear it.

More or less, I think Glyaxia is a military organization based on the hints that are sprinkled in the various Glyos media. Personally, I compare Glyaxia to the Federation in the Gundam U.C. universe. They're a big organization. Sometimes they are 'good' and sometimes 'bad' depending on the top officials. There are rogue branches.

The better question might be who founded Glyaxia and who is running it currently.

Very interesting, but a military for whom? The Glyos universe?

This would make perfect sense, but it seems like they are more rogue overall than that. This is why I don't believe they are connected to any one government (which the Federation was).

I understand where your are coming from, and I do find it very interesting. I just don't really see them as being connected to a government.

Good question. The comics suggested some sort of planetary alliance during the second Villser invasion (Gendrone Chronicles). Possibly Glyaxia was born as the military arm of the remaining vestiges of that alliance. Maybe it's operated by Metran.

As another thought- if you look at the twin V logo of Glyaxia, it shares design elements with the Traveler head. I've always suspected there is some symbolism hidden there as well.

Glyaxia being a military organization is probably close, but I'd make a key distinction:

Glyaxia is a paramilitary organization.

Think about it. The few times we see them talking about a chain of command, it always goes back to High Command. There's no mention of governments of any kind, even the Capital World Metran, which is telling as some Gendrones have been affiliated with Glyaxia-sponsored groups (ZED comes to mind) while they were ordered decommissioned by Metran. Granted, we haven't heard much about Metran lately, but if Glyaxia is disregarding one of their orders in a big way, it stands to reason that they may not be answerable to Metran at all.

From the old pack-in leaflets, we also know that Travelers' whole M.O. is to patrol the Edge of Space and preserve the Glyos System. From the original Glyaxia drop, we saw that High Command is comprised of, surprise, Travelers. So rather than serving a particular state, world, or government, it's possible that Glyaxia was formed by a group of Travelers who wished to have an organized response to perceived threats to the Glyos System.

Just a thought. Maybe one day, we'll have an answer!

I always assumed that Glyaxia was a group who captured live samples for cloning purposes. To what end though, I'd assumed it was for their own army. They take the genetic code of whatever they've captured and rewrite it so it's loyal to Glyaxia. For things like the Elite Glyaxia Protector Drones and Vanguard the Warrior, they copied the modular designs of the Zetonian robots and made their own creations out of them. Again, for their own army. What they would use that army for, who knows? Maybe they're self-replicating, like the Borg in Star Trek. They simply clone and build for the sake of expansion.

"What would they use that army for?"

That's the question that gets me every time. We know what they're doing, but not the purpose of it...
