Agreed about Star Killer Base.
So spoilers are go?
They put the destruction of the base right in the middle of a far more awesome sequence. It just kinda happened all of a sudden in a flash. There was no build up like there was with Luke in a new hope, no tension that the plan might not succeed.
It wasn't touched on how the new order became as powerful as they had in the 30? Years since jedi.
Werent they all but decimated after Jedi? They looked more powerful than the Empire ever was.
Cpt. Phasma was a letdown as well hopefully she becomes more of something in the future.
BB-8 was great, but not enough PZ-4CO I was really looking forward to him/her/it? Where was Goss Toowers, Zuvio, and Sarko Plank?
I think parts of the script felt a little rushed and pieced together. Was not really a fan of Snoke or the new 'Yoda' the CGI was off putting in those areas in contrast to how well it looked in the dogfights.
Also the creatures on the millennium falcon were pretty meh. That whole showdown felt a little strange.
the banter between Han was great however some it did bother me evwn though it worked... Are you telling me in all the years Han has known Chewie hes never once shot hit bowcaster?
The characters and humor are really where this movie shined and I just wanted to see more of Finn, Rey, Poe and Kylo. A little too much fan service which I did expect, but I felt held it back a tad.
The ending was rad. Mark Hamill says so much with just one facial expression. Also has some great lightsaber fights that don't feel as dance corriographed as the prequels, no these guys/gals are trying to friggin murder each other.
It was a fun romp that felt very reminiscent of A New Hope for better and worse. Its a great set up for what comes next.
I loved it. Did it live up to my expectations? Yes and No but that's to be expected.
...so I guess it did.
