True stack32, but I'm pleasantly surprised at just how many places they did the cuts (the hips/torso looked like one solid piece to me, but Pixel Dan's review shows they are separate parts).

Damn! That is a shame, I hadn't noticed that, there were specific color combinations I was excited about making, which now wont really be possible with the painted figures.

Still looking forward to these, more reason I suppose to pick up the unpainted versions, in order to make my own color combos!

I'm also disappointed by this. It kills the swap potential with this line. No disrespect to spymonkey, I still love the sculpts and concept. I'm still really interested in the line but I think the problem could be solved by painting the entire hand/wrist piece the same color as the gauntlets instead of the skin tone. It seems like they could pass as gloves and not just hands with wrist gauntlets. Maybe if enough people on here agree then they will consider it for future waves? What do you guys think of my idea.

Not sure the hand/gauntlet thing "kills" the swap potential of the entire line.

Sure it would be cooler if they were separate pieces but there is still plenty of potential especially with the blanks, you could just paint em up!

Yeah but using the blanks for swapping is going to be costly and limited. Instead of ending up with two swapped fully painted figures for 30$, you end with with one complete figure and a pile of unpainted parts for 25$. To me the value lies in the 30$ option. You also don't have as much variety in parts to swap with. With just this first wave were missing out on half of the potential swapping options with the boots/gloves: brown, black, yellow and blue. Were left with left with options like flesh tone, bright green and clear blue which personally don't really seem like good colors for boots/gloves (i will be buying a red one for swapping but I'd also like the 4 other options). I don't think that making the hand/wrist one piece is the problem. They just need to paint the whole piece one color.

Seems kinda odd that there isn't anything about Battle Tribes on the Spymonkey website.

As for the figures themselves, I like them, but that price might keep me away. The extra heads and weapons goes along way to make up for it, but I'm having a hard time justifying fifteen bucks for a fully painted Pheyden with armor these days, and that is pretty much my favorite Glyos thing ever.

It doesn't help that I recently started picking up some of those Halo Mega Bloks figures. A bit smaller, and more sci-fi than fantasy, but it's still a highly posable, customizable mini fighting guy that clocks in at a third of the price. Or going in the other direction, for $5 more I could get one of those new HACKS figures from Boss Fight.

Aesthetically I wouldn't be fan of having the gauntlet and hands the same color, at least not all the time.

For this particular drop there are enough variations with just headswaps that I probably won't buy less with these not being fully interchangeable but I can imagine it being an issue in the future. For me it would be a question of if I run out of interesting variations or budget first. I guess painting is always an option but I think even in the Glyos community a lot of people aren't up for that.

All that being said I suspect that there probably is a good reason, either cost or engineering, that the figures are the way they are.

Great pics of the figs and the process towards the drop. Great idea to have these continue as you progress with the line too, thanks for posting them.

Some of the new pics on Instagram show these are very compatible with other Glyos figures. The heads look to fit on the Armorvor body well and Skeleden armor seems to fit perfectly. Swapping parts onto the Armorvor body looks pretty good too. I was a little concerned things might not match up well so this is great news.

I'm looking forward to these. Simple, small figures are right up my alley.

The squat poses definitely imply action, versus a more static pose. The problem will be on what to buy? Except for a green figure...definitely that.

To me, there is a category of Glyos-toys that are action figures which happen to have Glyos joints, like OSM. This is different from Glyos-compatible.

Battle Tribes sit squarely in the middle of those two classes. They are distinct little action figures that stand on their own, but they have been carefully engineered to fit with other Glyos figures where they can, without giving up their own aesthetic. In short -- Battle Tribes are win/win.

For the builders in the community, here is a break out of the parts available to you in a Battle Tribes figure:

Was two minutes late to the drop (had to read one last princess story to my daughter before bed time), but I think I managed to get one of everything. I was charged for it and my order went through anyway :-).

SOLD OUT in less than 10 minutes?!?!?!? Dang, son. Great job Spy Monkey Creations!!!

I feel lucky that it took my payment so hoping it sticks. They were geared up for 3 hours of sales before dropping limits, so I'm wondering if this quick sell-out a glitch? If it is truly sold out so quickly, amazing and they certainly could 'risk' more stock next time. Either way bodes well for more Tribes!

I've been going back and forth all day on whether or not to order these guys. I thought I was going to be out at drop time, so I finally decided to skip it.

Then I get back a few minutes before the store goes up and see Matt's post on the Glyos blog and it breaks my resolve and I go in for one each of the painted guys and an unpainted crystal blue.

Brian mentioned on 24 Hour Toy Break that the unpainted numbers were pretty limited and they had a good feeling about the whole wave selling through pretty quickly with the response they were getting after the reveal.
