Checking out some of releases of Microman toys, namely Microman Military Force Lava Planet and ThreeA Microman Patrick

Anyone one can vouch for either of these for being a good purchase?

The Military Force figures came late in the Microman line and have great articulation and a reasonable reputation for durability as far as Microman figures go.
I have not had hands on experience of the 3A figures but they had a mixed reception in the MM scene due to the change of scale.
The 'Micronfans' facebook group is very friendly and has loads of sales, also if you havn't checked out http://www.microforever.com/microdesign.htm then get ready for a deep rabbit hole:)

I can only imitate the style to a degree with Glyos, and I'm more prepared that I should be all things considered, but I haven't taken that first bite. I don't own any MM, so getting a modernized 3A despite scale seemed like a good start. At the same time, Military Force and Material Force figures are widely plentiful and available on the second hand market scene in Japan, so adding a few when I order other Japanese toys is an easy enough process.

I guess I'm just shy to dive into another series of toys. :psweat:

As you have said there are lots of Microman/micronauts available in Japan at reasonable prices.
Getting stuff in the original scale will mean that you have compatability with any 3.75inch toys with a 5mm port system.
There were some very cool vehicles and mecha in the Microman/nauts line that are relatively cheap to pick up..

I know a bit about the 3A Microman. I wound up just buying Aki from the first series for around US$30. I'm sure they received a lot of criticism for making them 1/12th scale (6" tall) presumably to go with their own Action Portable line of figures. I've heard that while authorized by Takara, they couldn't get international rights which probably caused retail problems? I don't think new releases have been talked about since 2015. To me the 3A brand main selling features are that the figures are designed or re-imagined by Ashley Wood - so here the figure looks more Ashley Wood figures in details. And 3A figures usually have clothing, packs, gas masks etc. and weathering. No weathering, but the figure has diving gear including a nylon outfit (some figures are clear plastic, no diving suit). I would guess the 1/12th scale is the smallest they can do reasonably effective clothing. One downside at least for me is the first series are in bubbles on card, so the figures aren't removable without cutting up the bubble. Their later packaging though might be easier to open and repack

Also worth noting that 3A did some large 1/6th scale figures called Cyborg Pascha a few years back, quite clearly riffing on Henshin Cyborg, though unlicensed. Pretty neat though somewhat expensive (around $145 each originally). Picked up one, am quite happy, considered getting some others.

Also Hasbro officially released a Micronauts 3 figure exclusive set at SDCC 2016 last summer. Picked mine up when Hasbro sold some online. I'm guessing enough were made that it's can be found at a reasonable price though I've not checked. I like it. One thing that surprised me was they remade a Galactic Warrior figure I remember as diecast in plastic finished to look a lot like diecast. Other than being surprised it wasn't, it was interesting that they could finish it so similar.
