I placed my order with Boss Fight Studio. I could use a pair of nicely articulated skeletons for my skeleton troops, in a slightly smaller size and sculpted differently for a little variety. They're not the *main* troops, because they're li'l dudes. They're probably going to be relegated to other, non-fighting tasks like driving the wagons.
On the subject of Skeleton Warriors, I believe that any ideas about a full line would need 9 characters. 1) Grimskull 2) Prince Lightstar, 3) Talyn 4) Ursak 5) generic Legion of Light Trooper 6) Shriek 7) Aracula 8) Dr. Cyborn 9) Dagger. The main problem I see is the sculpting and molding costs for each individual character. Most modern action figures (sadly) have all their clothing sculpted on and have to be part of the mold. So there isn't a lot of re-use potential, and most people would only need one of each, and maybe multiples of the army-builders.
If the tooling costs for each individual character is in the $30,000 area, then 9 characters would need a Kickstarter for $270,000. Companies like Hasbro can afford the individual tooling for their hundreds of Star Wars figures, but an indie toy company can't match that.
I think that Boss Fight found the magic recipe by having a base generic human body molded, and then creating separate armor/helmet/equipment pieces. So, if most of the cost is in the basic body (which is already paid for), then they can keep expanding the line with new warriors simply by sculpting (or repainting) a new set of armor/helmet/equipment pieces. Then, volia! a new figure to send to market! They don't have to keep reinventing the wheel (human body) just to market a new character.
That's the advantage that previous generations of kids had with their dolls, er... action figures like Gi Joe, Barbie, MEGO, etc had. Same base body reused over and over again, but with different heads and different clothing/accessory packs.
If October Toys can tap into this design, but with a Glyos body, then they can sell their stuff to a whole new audience (Glyos Universe), outside of fans of the cartoon series. After all, who doesn't need Glyos human figures?
