How do you store your extra Glyos parts?

I figured this would be a very useful topic for newcomers to the PVC buildable figures. When you amass enough of them, you start to have a healthy amount of leftover bits. How do you store them? Some find it as simple as throwing them into a plastic tub, and some want to organize them for optimal building.

I kind of lean to the latter...

This is my storage method.



In the top I put the larger and chunkier parts



While in the bottom I organize all my bits into plastic trays.





Hopefully this helps someone new to Glyos. I'd really like to see what other methods other users have, as I can see this really helping someone with a lot of spare bits.

A question I keep asking myself is should I organise my extras by type or by colour? Is it more useful to have all my phase arms together or all my green parts together...?

I usually find organizing by type to be better, since you may not be able to find the part in a color you need, but can then see several alternatives in different colors.

I have a chest for Vinyl figures, a chest for figures and builds, a baggie for switchpins, a parts container for heads, and a bigger parts container for other bits. I tend to use boxes from drops as a sort of work station when I build before everything gets sorted. I actually don't display my Glyos though.

I'm horribly OCD about my collections, so I have any extra parts in small ziplock baggies w/ the figures name written on it stored in large jewelry bead storage containers so they don't get lost.

I used to have them in one big mess in a freezer size ziplock bag, but then I would forget to seal it and my cat would get into it at night while we were sleeping and scatter the pieces everywhere in the basement.

That sounds like a pain, but kind of hilarious. I can imagine our cats going nuts for a bag full of Gobon balls.

For building accessory sets, I group them by color/release and store them in those Iris photo storage boxes (large outer case with removable internal boxes). I've been thinking about getting one of those larger parts sorters from Home Depot. After 9 years, there are a lot of different colors...

For the figures, I actually do the same thing as Lazzy. I usually keep the bags in the shipping boxes. Those shipping boxes are great for storing the figures.

I've tried it both ways and definitely go with sort by type. I find it easier to pick a green arm out of a bin of arms than find an arm in a bin of green parts. Also, as Joe says, it helps in discovering good color matches.

Except white. The white PVC is easily stained, so white is sorted by color.

My finished figures are stored in Plano trays, especially good for keeping the dyed figs from bleeding onto their compatriots.
